The architecture of the city and of urban spaces in terms of their performative and situational characteristics is in the focus of my research. The Berlin Project is linked to this area. It investigates in the relation between urban-design-concepts and urban action. We ask how far this connection is reasoned ethically by the urban actors in Berlin.

My involvement with Berlin began while studying architecture and working on the planning for the reconstruction of the Neues Museum as part of a one-year internship at David Chipperfield Architects Berlin. In the context of my teaching activities at the Department of Urban Design and Regional Planning, I have been involved with a design project, a field trip and seminars in theory to the history of urban design projects for Berlin and their character as projections of urban society. Berlin’s architectural and urban spatial diversity and complexity, that is on to this day the visible expression of many historical ruptures, societal ideals or simply different ideas of urban living, fascinates and interests me particularly.
